← Back to your threads

21 Aug 2026

  • Added an Assets item to the sidebar, linking to your library of uploaded files and saved pages.
  • Redesigned the notebook page: a topic rail that expands on hover or tap, a single line showing thread/upload/page counts, a merged brief and ask card, and a full list of your past questions and answers.
  • Notebook threads and assets now live in a slide-out drawer instead of long lists on the page, with filter tabs and a quick add-a-page/upload-a-file panel.
  • Redesigned the Assets library page with a stat strip, type/notebook/search filters, status indicators, and bulk select for adding to a notebook or deleting.
  • Fixed sizing and polish on the Assets library page: a working add card with a save-a-page/upload-files toggle, a live selection count, and drag-and-drop upload anywhere on the page.
  • Fixed sizing and polish on the notebook page: the topic rail is now a bordered card with accent-coloured topics and an overflow count, and the thread/upload/page counts sit in a single bar.
  • Fixed the notebook assets drawer: flat rows with an icon and a details line, an always-open add block, and one scrolling list instead of three competing regions.
  • The notebook drawer can now add threads and assets you already have, not just new URLs: "Your threads" and "Your assets" buttons open a searchable, sortable picker right in the drawer, with threads grouped by shared topics.
  • Redesigned the asset detail page: a reading view/raw markdown toggle over the actual extracted text, a rail showing what was kept and dropped during extraction, which notebooks and answers use the asset, and a "Fetch again" button for a page that read thin or failed.

20 Aug 2026

  • Fixed a bug where pinning or unpinning a question could blank out the page. The pin toggle is now a small icon next to the question's date instead of a text link.

17 Aug 2026

  • Fixed a bug where the top loading bar and live thread updates could silently stop working on some pages.

16 Aug 2026

  • You can now pin a chat or question to the public page right away - no need to make the thread public first.
  • Replaced "Watching" with "Starred" - a simple bookmark for threads you want to keep handy. Starring a thread no longer changes how often it gets re-crawled.

15 Aug 2026

  • Added a Pricing page and an account "Usage" section showing how many chat messages, sources, and public questions you've used today and when they reset. Everyone's still on the Free plan during beta.
  • You can now pin a question to the top of a thread's question list - your own or a visitor's - both on the thread page and its public page.

14 Aug 2026

  • The "Share" button on a thread's own page is now always there, whether it's public yet or not - and making a thread public now lets you choose what visitors see and whether your name shows in the same step.
  • The "Share" button on a thread's details card moved to the top right, and now shows a globe or lock icon and "Public"/"Share" label so you can tell at a glance whether it's public or private.
  • Notebooks can now hold links to web pages, not just threads - paste a URL into a notebook's new "Assets" section and it gets scraped, indexed, and included in that notebook's summary and ask.
  • Added an "Assets" page listing every link and file you've added to any notebook, with its own page to edit its description, generate a summary from its content, and delete it.
  • Fixed the thread list briefly flashing right after clicking into a thread from the main Threads list.
  • A notebook's "Assets" section can now also upload a PDF or image file, not just link a web page.

13 Aug 2026

  • A public thread's own page now shows visitor questions and answers, lets any signed-in visitor ask one when its owner allows it, and gives non-owners a "Follow" button to start tracking it.
  • Your thread list now shows "added by @username" on a thread someone else indexed that you're just following.
  • The sharing panel now has a "Preview as a visitor" link, so you can see your thread's public page exactly as visitors do, with a banner reminding you it's a preview.
  • A public thread's "Ask about this thread" form now always shows, even when you're signed out - it's just disabled with a prompt to sign up with Google.

12 Aug 2026

  • Added a Share panel to a public thread's own page, letting its owner choose how much visitors see, whether their name shows, and hide individual questions.

9 Aug 2026

  • Moved a thread's topics above its notebook picker on the details page.
  • Reorganised a thread's details into a clearer card, with sentiment shown as a short summary instead of just an emoji.
  • Gave the "Ask Lurker" box on the home page a subtle glow to make it stand out.

8 Aug 2026

  • Brought back the "Ask Lurker" box and card on the home page.
  • Removed the "Ask Lurker about your threads" card from the home page.
  • Added a "Connected apps" list to the connect page, so you can see which MCP clients have signed in and disconnect any of them.
  • Added a small MCP connection hint above the home page chatbox, with a link to the full setup instructions.
  • Pasting a thread URL straight into "Ask Lurker" now offers to add it right away, or links you to it if you're already tracking it, instead of treating it like a question.
  • Redesigned the account menu in the bottom-left of the sidebar - it now shows your Google avatar and email, and has a menu with dark mode, connected clients, and sign out.
  • The account menu now shows your full name instead of your email address.
  • Dates on chats, questions and connected apps now show in day-month-year format (e.g. "8 August 2026") instead of month/day/year.
  • Reordered and restyled the account menu - "What's new" now sits right below the theme switcher, matching the look of the other rows, and every row has an icon next to it.

7 Aug 2026

  • Fixed a newly-added thread's own page not showing "quick preview available" next to its indexing status, even though the quick preview itself was already there via lurker_search_content.
  • Fixed quick indexing silently failing on longer, multi-page threads, so a quick preview now shows up for those too instead of never appearing.
  • Fixed retrying a thread failing again with the same error when it had a lot of unindexed posts to catch up on.
  • Added a loading bar at the top of the page while anything loads in the background, and a pulsing glow on the orange "queued"/"indexing" status dot.
  • Fixed a second cause of the same retry-fails-again error, for threads with enough unindexed posts that generating their search context also passed the limit.
  • The "Indexed" badge on a thread no longer shows a last-indexed timestamp.

6 Aug 2026

  • Adding a new thread now gets a quick preview searchable within seconds via lurker_search_content, while the full index runs in the background - the thread list and lurker_thread_status now call this out as "quick preview available" until the full index finishes.

4 Aug 2026

  • You can now rename how a thread shows up to you from its "more actions" menu - the crawled title is kept underneath, and clearing the new name reverts to it.
  • A newly-added thread is now clickable in the sidebar right away, even before its first crawl gives it a title - it opens to a page showing what's indexed so far instead of doing nothing.
  • Fixed deleting a thread from its own page leaving you on a blank page instead of taking you back to the thread list.
  • Deleting a thread from its own page now takes you to the thread list with a confirmation that it was deleted, instead of the homepage.

3 Aug 2026

  • Fixed confirming an Ask Lurker action (e.g. "add this thread") sending you to a slow-loading new page that could show garbled text - confirming or cancelling now just swaps in the result right where you asked, on the home page's chat box as much as a full chat.
  • Adding a thread from the Threads page now shows it at the top of the list right away, while it crawls, instead of only appearing once the crawl finishes.
  • The sidebar's "Add a thread" link is now a filled "Add thread" button, so it stands out from the rest of the menu.
  • Adding a thread now shows a brief "Thread added" confirmation next to the form.

2 Aug 2026

  • Notebooks: creating one is now a single "name it, press Enter" field, and the notebooks page now suggests notebooks built from your already-indexed topics and sites. Inside a notebook, a suggestions panel proposes threads and topics to pull in, with a one-click "Add all".
  • A notebook's synthesized summary now loads instantly instead of regenerating on every visit, with a brief "Generating summary..." indicator shown while a new one is being put together after you add or remove threads.
  • Threads: picking more than one topic or site chip now visually groups them with "or" between them (and "and" between different filter types), and a thread matching only one of several selected topics now shows which one under its title, since selecting more than one topic broadens the list rather than narrowing it.

1 Aug 2026

  • Fixed a thread's question cards sometimes showing an AI-shortened version of your question instead of what you actually typed.

31 Jul 2026

  • You can now ask a question across every thread in a notebook at once, right from the notebook's own page - answers cite which thread each claim came from.
  • The MCP server now has notebook tools too (lurker_list_notebooks, lurker_create_notebook, lurker_add_thread_to_notebook, lurker_remove_thread_from_notebook, lurker_ask_notebook), plus a per-notebook brief resource - the same notebook features the web UI has, now available to any MCP client.
  • The home page's "Ask" card is live: a new "Ask Lurker" chat that answers questions across everything you track, a specific topic, or a notebook - the chat picks what to search itself, and your past chats are saved so you can pick a conversation back up later.
  • The "Ask Lurker" chat can now act for you, not just answer questions: create a notebook, tag threads with a topic, add a thread to a notebook, or crawl a new thread by URL. It always asks you to confirm before anything actually happens, so nothing changes without you saying go.
  • The home page's ask box now answers right there instead of taking you to a new page - it expands in place as the conversation grows.
  • Fixed a bug where asking a question could sometimes show a broken half-answer that just described searching again, instead of an actual answer.
  • Fixed asking a question jumping the whole page around, and the "thinking" dots briefly showing up above your own question instead of below it.

30 Jul 2026

  • Replaced the top bar with a persistent left sidebar - search, Home/Threads/Add a thread, your most recent threads, sign out and the theme switch all live there now. Topics, Notebooks and Watching show as "coming soon" placeholders.
  • The sidebar's wordmark now uses the original peeking-eye logo and a plain sans font, instead of the redesign's accent-square "L" mark and serif font.
  • Rebuilt the home page: a welcome header, your 5 most recent threads with a quick-access card beside them, and a favorites section - your full thread list and "add a thread" now live on their own Threads page (reachable from the sidebar). Home also previews an "ask across all your threads" box, marked "coming soon" since it isn't wired up yet.
  • A thread's own page: the title is now serif, there's a "focus mode" button that hides the sidebar and thread list for distraction-free reading, and the sidebar's background is a touch darker to stand out from the page beside it.
  • Every past question you've asked about a thread now shows fully expanded in its own card, right on the page - no more clicking a question in a list to see its answer.
  • Added a Topics page (in the sidebar) - every topic you've used, with a thread count and a couple of sample threads, one click away from filtering your thread list down to it. Also fixed clicking a topic tag on a thread's page no longer filtering anything, a side effect of an earlier home page change.
  • Hovering the sidebar's greyed-out Notebooks and Watching now explains why each is disabled, instead of just sitting there unclickable.
  • A thread's "focus mode" now toggles instantly instead of reloading the page, and uses the full width freed up once the sidebar and thread list are hidden.
  • Added a topic filter to the thread list: a funnel button next to "Filter threads" opens a searchable menu of your topics, and picking one adds it as a removable pill right in the filter box - no more needing to already be on a topic's page or a thread's topic tag to filter by it. Adding or removing a topic updates the list instantly, with no page reload.
  • Lurker now works properly on a phone: the sidebar becomes a slide-out menu behind a hamburger button, a search button, and a bottom tab bar (Home, Threads, Topics, Add) replace it, and every page's layout adapts to fit a narrow screen.
  • Added a site filter to the thread list, alongside the existing topic filter: a second funnel button opens a searchable menu of the sites you've crawled, and picking one adds it as a removable pill in the filter box. Active topic and site filters now narrow each other down, instead of only the topic filter being available. Updates instantly, with no page reload.
  • Moved the "What's new" pill into the sidebar (and mobile menu), next to sign out, instead of floating over the page in the corner.
  • The sidebar's Watching row now goes somewhere: it opens your thread list pre-filtered to the threads you're watching, with a short note that Lurker keeps them up to date automatically. You can also turn this "Watched" filter on or off from the thread list's own filter menu, right alongside the topic and site filters.
  • Notebooks are here: group threads together (from a thread's page or a Topics card) into a named notebook, browse them from the sidebar, and get a synthesized summary of what the group covers. Asking a question across a whole notebook at once is coming in a follow-up.

29 Jul 2026

  • The "Filter threads" box now also searches by meaning, not just matching text - typing "bikes" can surface a thread about tyres even if the word "bikes" never appears in it.
  • Reworked the home page: your threads now sit in a list down the left, with "add a thread" filling the space beside it.
  • The thread list beside a thread's own page now shows the same summary and watch toggle as the home page list.
  • The signed-out home page now explains what Lurker does and what you can do with it, instead of jumping straight to sign-in.
  • Clicking a topic tag now filters your thread list down to that topic (or several, if you click more than one - it shows threads with any of them) using the same "Filter threads" box, instead of opening a separate topic page.
  • The "We heart forums" badge now glows on hover instead of cycling through rainbow colors.
  • Rebuilt the signed-out home page: what Lurker does, how it works, what people ask their threads, and answers to the usual questions - plus links to threads people have made public.

27 Jul 2026

  • Simplified "Ask" on a thread to one question and one answer, instead of an open-ended chat.
  • Add a "Pin to public page" option on a question you've asked about a thread, same as chats already had.
  • Asking a question about a thread now streams the answer in live instead of reloading the page.
  • Show a hint explaining why "Pin to public page" is missing when a thread isn't public yet, with a link to make it public.
  • Ask questions right on a thread's page - the separate Ask page is gone, and past questions open in place.
  • Questions on a thread now sit in a list down the left, with the answer beside them - picking one swaps just the answer, and the ask box stays put.
  • Clicking a question on a thread now highlights it immediately, and the answer area shows it's loading, instead of nothing happening until the answer lands.
  • A thread's page now lists all your threads down the left on wide screens, with a filter box, so you can jump between them without going back to the thread list.
  • Simplified your thread list: one flat list instead of a section per forum, with each thread showing its name, a one-line summary, the forum and a status dot.
  • Threads that have picked up new posts since you last opened them now float to the top of your list, with a blue dot to mark them.
  • Add a proper 404 page for links that don't lead anywhere.

26 Jul 2026

  • Add an "Open in Claude" link and copy-prompt option next to a thread's MCP tool id, so you can start asking Claude about it in one click.
  • Fixed the top bar's links and badges overlapping into unreadable text on narrow phone screens.

25 Jul 2026

  • Add a "Pin to public page" option on a chat you've asked about a thread, showing either the full transcript or a short summary on the public page.
  • Fixed the "In progress" box's highlighted border sitting flush against its thread card (with no visible padding) instead of bleeding past it like a highlight frame, and the card inside not lining up with the thread cards below it.
  • Fixed the top bar's links and icons sitting inset from the edges of the page instead of stretching out to the same width as the thread list and other content below it.
  • Added a browser tab icon (favicon) based on the site logo.

24 Jul 2026

  • Fixed newly-added threads getting a URL made from the raw page address instead of the thread's title.
  • The "Adding" box now aligns with the thread list below it and gets a highlighted background with an animated dashed border while a thread is indexing.
  • Threads now show an AI-classified sentiment emoji based on the tone of the discussion - hover it to see the AI's reasoning.
  • Fixed re-adding a thread you previously removed showing it as "Updating" under its site, instead of "Indexing" in the Adding box, if the original add needed a retry.
  • Ask now has its own icon next to the watch toggle instead of being tucked away in the "more actions" menu.
  • Added "Report a problem" to a thread's menu, so you can flag something wrong with it (like incomplete indexing) directly.
  • Fixed the sentiment emoji, watch, ask, and menu icons on a thread's details page not being aligned to the right like they are in the thread list.
  • Renamed the "Adding" box to "In progress" (it can also show a thread being re-indexed, not just a brand new one), and swapped its bright dashed border for a subtler solid line with a slow-flowing green/purple/blue gradient.
  • Refreshed the app's color palette (backgrounds, borders, chip tags, and status colors) in both light and dark mode.
  • Each thread in your list now sits in its own bordered card instead of a plain row, and topic tags are now rounded pills.
  • Added a persistent header with the Lurker wordmark, a "We ♥ forums" badge, your account links, and a light/auto/dark theme switch, replacing the old floating theme button.
  • Chat bubbles got a redesign (rounded speech-bubble corners) and now show a pulsing "typing" indicator while an answer is being written, instead of a "Thinking…" placeholder.
  • The sign-in page's MCP setup instructions are now tabbed (Claude Code/Desktop vs Claude.ai web) instead of both showing at once, and "Sign in with Google" is now a "Continue with Google" button matching the rest of the page.
  • Fixed the new header's background and border only spanning the page's centered column instead of the full width of the screen.
  • Fixed the sentiment emoji on a thread's details page sitting lower than the watch, ask, and menu icons next to it.
  • Threads can now be made public from the thread menu, giving them a shareable page with the summary, topics, and sentiment that search engines can find - your account is never shown.
  • The MCP server now also exposes Resources (per-thread summary, metadata, and extracted links/tools/part numbers, plus a rolled-up brief for each workspace tag) and Prompts (parts-list, troubleshooting-timeline, and consensus-summary templates), alongside its tools. Every tool now has a lurker_ prefix and a couple were merged (search_content now takes an optional thread or tag filter), so update any saved tool references.
  • Removed the extracted links/tools/part numbers section from thread pages while we improve how it's generated.
  • Longer threads now also get a fuller, multi-paragraph summary, shown as a "Read the full summary" expander below the usual short summary on a thread's page.
  • Fixed the "In progress" box bleeding wider than the rest of the page instead of lining up with the header and thread list.

23 Jul 2026

  • Thread chat answers now list their sources at the end of the message instead of inline citation numbers.
  • Thread chat now flows as part of the page instead of a small scrolling box, with the ask input staying visible at the bottom.
  • Each day's changes on this page now start with a short recap, above the full list.
  • Adding a thread now shows up in your list immediately, with a progress indicator, instead of appearing to do nothing until crawling finishes.
  • Threads are now grouped by site, and new threads you're adding show in their own box at the top of the list until indexing finishes.

22 Jul 2026

  • The thread details page can now add and remove topics, and has the same watch/retry/check-for-new-posts/delete menu as the threads list.
  • Renamed "Chats" to "Questions" on the thread details page.
  • Added a note on the thread chat page pointing to our MCP for best results.
  • Fixed thread chat occasionally getting stuck repeating the same word instead of answering.
  • Fixed thread chat sometimes showing a raw search request instead of an answer.
  • Each thread's MCP tool id on the homepage list now has a copy button, and its index status and post count moved under the title to make room.
  • The "regenerate summary" button moved into the "..." menu on each thread.
  • Your threads list now shows each thread's MCP tool id too, not just the details page.
  • The "View thread" icon on the homepage list moved into the "..." menu and is now "Ask" - it opens a new chat for that thread instead of the thread page.
  • The thread details page no longer shows the thread's slug next to its MCP tool id - just the MCP tool id now.
  • Asking a thread a question now streams the answer in live as it's generated, instead of leaving the chat blank until the whole answer is ready.
  • Chats without a title yet no longer show as "New chat" in the list on a thread's page, which made them indistinguishable from the actual New chat button.
  • The thread details page now shows the thread's slug and MCP tool id in code blocks, with a copy button for the latter.
  • You can now add your own topic tags to a thread, not just the ones Lurker suggests.
  • Fixed thread titles on some forums showing the board name instead of the actual thread title.
  • Fixed browser tab titles showing raw emoji shortcodes (e.g. ":magic_wand:") instead of dropping them.
  • Adding a thread now clears the input box right away instead of leaving the URL sitting there.
  • Your thread list now refreshes automatically as new threads are tracked.
  • The "how we scrape" page is now "how we crawl" - same page, moved to /crawling.
  • Added a light/dark/system theme toggle.
  • The thread list and "what's new" pill now update instantly instead of checking for changes every few seconds.
  • Indexed threads now have a "check for new posts" icon button to pick up new replies without a full re-index (limited to once an hour per thread).
  • Added a "watch" toggle so you can choose up to 5 threads to keep automatically up to date - other threads only refresh when you manually retry/check them.
  • The thread list now shows how many posts are in each thread, and when it was last indexed.
  • Thread titles now render emoji (e.g. ":magic_wand:") instead of showing the raw shortcode.
  • Added a page explaining how Lurker crawls forums.
  • Every page now has a small "We ♥ forums" footer link to how Lurker crawls.
  • Indexed threads now show "Indexed" together with the last-indexed time in one line, instead of two.
  • The watch-thread eye icon now fills in solid when you're watching a thread, making it easier to spot at a glance.
  • You can now ask a thread questions directly — answers cite and link back to the specific posts they draw on.
  • Added an "add a thread" box right on your threads page, so you can start tracking a thread without going through Claude.
  • A submitted URL that doesn't look like a forum thread now shows as "Invalid" (hover for details) instead of silently going nowhere.
  • Thread titles are now links to that thread's details page.
  • The thread details page now shows the source link inline, with the same external-link icon used on your threads list.
  • Moved "check for new posts" and "delete" into a small menu on each thread, so the row has fewer icons.
  • You can now start multiple chats on a thread instead of always picking up the same one, and each chat gets an auto-generated title.
